Lines of Wisdom - Call for Authors
Lines of Wisdom is a new book that will focus on the inspirational stories of 10 ordinary and elderly Australians. As well as catching precious insights that might otherwise be lost, the book will encourage conversation between generations and promote a greater appreciation for listening to our old folks. We want young writers to convey these stories in ways that will inspire and delight the broader community.  We’re delighted to produce this book in association with the NYWF, which will give the theme added pathos and provide opportunities for young writers.  We’re looking for a mix of subjects from around Australia. They should be over 75 (or slightly younger in exceptional circumstances), willing to open their lives to you and prepared to be photographed. They can be people you know or strangers you find. Even if you’re already familiar with the person, you’ll have to visit them several times, talk to their friends and family, look at photo albums, read up on your history.  We’re leaving the template deliberately loose so the writers feel free to use whatever style works best to create an inspirational portrait. Stories can be between 2500 and 5000 words, for which we’ll pay 35c/word. We need all the profiles written, and the photography underway, by 19 May. The book will be published in October 2008.

More information and copies of the standard agreement can be had by contacting Screen Hub’s Managing Director, Alex Prior, on 03 9690 6893 or by email alex@screenhub.com.au
